Photographing weddings has evolved out of my personal photographic style and vision, and my true passion of photographing people.

I often spend many days leading up to the wedding, getting to know the couple, and their family and friends, and photographing the myriad activities that precede the wedding. This documentary approach gives me ample time to make the personal connections that allow me to photograph on a deeper and more intimate level.

Every wedding experience is unique, and I try to capture that uniqueness with all the subtlety, nuance and skill that I possess. A wedding is one of life’s most important and wondrous events. It brings one’s family and friends together to share a special moment in time. It is a pivotal and emotional moment in life. To be a part of this life-altering event is both a special privilege, and a sacred trust.

I have a very unobtrusive style. I primarily use quiet rangefinder cameras and very fast lenses, which allows me to be very judicious in my use of flash. Using available light to capture the mood is very important to my way of seeing. I’m a fine craftsman in the darkroom, and can print museum-quality toned silver prints, as well as in platinum, cyanotype and other alternative processes.

In summary, I bring a tremendous amount of positive energy and a wonderful enthusiasm to my work, and I put my heart and soul and mind into every photograph that I take.
